This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your personal information when you access or use our website, mobile application, and related services (collectively, the "Platform").

2. Information We Collect

To maintain a trusted campus community, we collect information that helps verify your student status and secure your transactions.

  • Account Profile Data: Email address (including verified college email domains like .edu, .ac.in, or .edu.in), full name, username, phone number, display name, biography, and profile avatar.
  • Verification Data: Documents, student ID cards, or domain registration logs used to confirm enrollment in a Kerala educational institution.
  • Marketplace & Post Content: Listing details (title, description, price, condition, category, region/campus, images), community discussion posts on The Quad (votes, poll responses, comments, and reports), and transaction history.
  • Communication Data: Chat history within our messaging system, support ticket exchanges, and resolution notes.
  • Technical & Usage Logs: IP address, device type, browser settings, geographical region, campus network location, and interaction logs.

3. How We Use Your Information

We process your personal information for purposes based on our legitimate business interests, performance of services, and compliance with Indian legal regulations.

  • To create and manage your secure student account and reward scores (e.g., drip score, coins, streaks).
  • To verify your student identity and grant campus trust verification badges.
  • To display localized campus listings, events, and discussion feeds tailored to your specific district or campus.
  • To facilitate connection between buyers and sellers, including redirection to communication channels like WhatsApp with user consent.
  • To power our Trust & Safety Moderation Hub, enabling the flagging, review, and taking down of prohibited listings or community posts.
  • To enforce our terms, monitor safety thresholds (such as automated post-hiding on three distinct reports), and prevent scams, fraud, and harassment.

4. Data Sharing and Third-Party Redirection

We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or third parties. We only share information in the following situations:

  • With Other Users: Your display name, username, verified badge status, campus, and public listings/posts are visible to other logged-in students. When initiating a transaction, the platform may share your phone number to facilitate chat.
  • With Service Providers: We share data with infrastructure providers like Supabase (database, storage, and authentication host) and integration systems (such as Google Sheets webhooks to sync inquiry leads).
  • Law Enforcement: We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or government directive to comply with the Information Technology Act, 2000, and related rules.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your personal data only as long as your account is active or needed to provide you with the services.

You can request account deletion at any time through the Settings page or by contacting our Support Team. Upon deletion, your profile metadata is permanently erased or anonymized, except where retention is legally required (e.g., matching security audit logs, active dispute reports, or open fraud investigations).
